Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi

Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi, a lawyer by profession before joining politics was founder member of our club. He was the first premier subsequently designated as chief minister of Assam in 1947.

Late Rai Bahadur Kanak lal Barooah

Late Rai Bahadur Kanak lal Barooah was a powerful minister in British days. His contribution to the establishment of the club was significant. He was also a regular Tennis Player.

Dr. Harekrishna Das

Dr. Harekrishna Das, Retired civil surgeon in 1928, was a prominent and influential citizen of the town and was one of the founders of the Club.

Late Bishnu Prasad

Late Bishnu Prasad Dhara who was retired as district & session Judge in 1931 a founding member & Ex president of our Club.

Late Dr Jyotish Chandra Das

Late Dr Jyotish Chandra Das was a private medical practioner of Guwahati in 1920 and was a founding member & Ex president of our club. His initiative in getting the plot of land for the club was very important.

Professor P.C.Roy

Professor P.C.Roy was a teacher of English in the year 1930’s & 40’s of cotton college also a founding member of our club.

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed started legal practice in guwahati in the 1930’s and later he was elected the president of India, a founding member of our club

Bibekananda Bharali

Bibekananda Bharali was a founder member of the club. A champion Tennis player of cotton college,started the well known “ Bharali Brothers“. He was the secretary of the club.

Dharani Dhar Choudhury

Founder member Dharani Dhar Choudhury was a Lawyer and later joined the Assam civil service. As a member of the club his contribution was significant. He was a secretary of the club whom the British authority requisitioned the club premises. After the requisitioning of the club premises he played the most important role in reorganizing the club. He was also the president our Club.

Premadhar Choudhury

Premadhar Choudhury was also a founder member and a very good tennis player,hence continued playing until his old age. He was appointed the curator of the museum at Gauhati and was the first director of Archeology of Assam. He was the brother of Late Dharani Dhar Choudhury also was the president of our club.

Late Nalini Kumar Das

Late Nalini Kumar Das an officer in the Income tax department contributed to the all round development of the club and was also the president of our club.

Parbati Kumar Goswami

Parbati Kumar Goswami was a brilliant practicing lawyer and later nominated as Justice of the Gauhati High Court also was our past president and Tennis player in our club.

Dr. K.C Barooah

Dr. K.C Barooah another member was a private practitioner who had played an important role in the organisational aspect of the club. He was also the president of our club.

Late Jatindra M Chaudhury

Late Jatindra M Chaudhury was a Lawyer and reqular tennis player of our club. He was the general secretary and President of our club. When Reserve Bank of India wanted to take our club premises, Late Chaudhury played a important role in fighting to reclaim the land thought talks with then Chief Minister of Assam Late Mahendra Mohan Chaudhury.

Mr. Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah

Mr. Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah was a reqular Tennis player of our club and he was the general secretary. He is a well known literary figure in Assam.

Surendra Nath Das

Surendra Nath Das a teacher by profession was a well built sportsman respected organised of sports and sporting activities. While as secretary of the India club he was instrumental in procuring the “ Patta”. Very Important document of possession of the club land.

Biresh Goswami

Biresh Goswami by profession a Professor at Pragjyotish college of Gauhati, was the secretary & Ex-President also an active member.He was Tennis Player from 1975-2005 of our club. He played the most important role in all the developmental activities of the club.

Captain Robin Bandoloi

Captain Robin Bandoloi was the secretary and regular Tennis player of the club.

Mr.J.C.Pegu

Mr.J.C.Pegu was commissioner of Income Tax also was our development committee member formed in the year 1998

Rahul Baruah

Rahul Baruah was also our development committee member formed in the year 1998.

Durga Prasad Borah

Durga Prasad Borah the director of Industries govt. of Assam was the Ex- secretary & Ex- president of our club. During his tenure two major works ere done. i.e the construction of 3rd count in 1986 & in 1987 the front Assam House, which was late reconstructed in 2018, when Mr. Biswadeep Bora was the General Secretary.

Mr. P.G. Agarwal

Mr. P.G. Agarwal was the General secretary in the year 1984, the Golden Jubilee celebration year. He was also the chairman of our New Development committee in the year 1998.

Prasanta Das

Prasanta Das was the Junior section member in 1966, & the Assam Champion, also the General Secretary & Ex- President of our club. He was also the developing committee Member which was formed in 1998.

Bimal Bharali

Bimal Bharali is the renowned cricketer & Tennis player of our club. He held the position of General Secretary & Present President of our club. He was also the Developer committee member formed in the year 1998.

Bijan Kumar Choudhury

Bijan Kumar Choudhury is a regular Tennis Player in our club since 1995, He has held the General secretary office from 1995 to 1999, re-elected from 2004 -2008, the from 2011 – 2015 and also the President in 2020-2022. During his term as a secretary he transformed India Club, which only catered tennis players into an Institute that clubbers all around the city covet through the development efforts.
